Is Cardio Vital?

When it comes to exercise, a lot of us try to find the easiest solution. What many people don’t realise is that exercise is about more than making you look good, it is also about making you healthier.

Cardio exercise is classified as any exercise that gets the heart rate up. Ideally you should be a little winded but not to such an extent that you cannot carry on a conversation.

Studies have shown that you need only about half an hour’s worth of cardio 5 times a week in order to stay healthy.

Staying Healthy

For some staying healthy means hitting the Circle Gym every day, for others, it means going once or twice a week. Whichever category you fall into, as long as you are elevating your heart rate on a regular basis, you are doing yourself some good.

Aerobics classes, Zumba classes and spin classes are just some examples of great cardio workouts. You can check the Health Club in SE1 London Bridge to see what classes are on offer and find one that suits you.

Cardio for Overall Health

Cardio should form a big part of your fitness strategy. Strength training is great in helping you to tone trouble spots but cardio will help up your overall calorie burn. Your body’s metabolic rate is revved up for four hours after exercise, allowing you to burn even more calories.

For heart health and stress reduction, there is nothing like regular cardio workouts. Have the staff at the gym help you to work out your maximum heart rate. Your aim should be to raise your heart rate during exercise to between 60% and 85% to get full cardio benefits.

Cardio is essential to any balanced workout programme. It not only helps you to burn excess calories, it helps to get the blood and lymph moving. This in turn allows your body to properly detoxify itself.  This is essential in maintaining health and well-being.
